Hi all new here I've a couple of problems really and would be grateful if anyone could help me!! What startup programs do I turn off because its affecting my ram i do not know which ones to turn off!! Q2 I've tried a thousand times to do my updates for windows service pack 1 I've tried to update but it say failure to configure reverting back blah blah blah I've turn my anti virus off and I've even used fix ya and it still won't update please can anyone help????

I have had the same problem with my Mini 1018. It won't update the Service Pack 1. I have resorted to a fresh install. I am taking the opportunity to install Win 7 64 bit.

Intel Atom processor is only 32 bit. You might try a fresh install of the 32 bit OS as it should update without a problem.

The Dell Mini 1018 can run the 64 bit operating system. I think the 1012 can run 64 bit as well. The Atom CPUs N450 (1012) and N455 (1018) appear to be ok for 64 bit. The Mini 9 and 1010 can't.


I solved the problem with the updates. I installed Service Pack 1 manually and then used the Windows Update to install the other updates.


Again they wouldn't install. I searched the Microsoft site and found a hotfix KB947821 fixed the update problem.
