Default Tweaks - 10-29-2008, 12:48 AM

Now I have read around the net of an xplite version for the eepcc getting rid of all the junk not needed. Now because we all have the OEM copies of XP i was wondering if anyone has done the same sorta thing, i.e taken the disc and stripped all the junk and release something similar. It wouldn't be illegal because we have our keys on the sticker?

Also I haven't seen anything here about trying tweak the system for best performance, only just adding 2 gig of ram.

I got my mini today but I had a bunch of homework and had to work so I didn't have time to play with it too much. Tomorrow, if i have time, I plan of using nLite on the disc that came with the dell. There is a lot of junk on there that is not needed. It should gain a little bit of performace but mostly save space, which is very important too.

I will post my results, so hopefully they will be good.

I plan on doing that today as a matter of fact!

I don't know enough about using nlite to drop in my own drivers and all that, but I'm definitely interested to see how much more the XP Home ULCPC can be reduced in size by removing some components.

I was able to get a clean install of the ULCPC WinXP cd that came with the MIni to just under 1GB.
You can get some idea of the things you can remove by following this guide:
