The usb and esata look exactly the same to me.

Dell Mini 10v: Obsidian Black, 1GB DDR2 533MHz Ram, 1.6GHz Intel Atom, 120GB FUJITSU HDD, 6-Cell, Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3 Build 10D573 booted with Chameleon 2 RC5 pre6, Dell Wireless 1397 flashed! (Everything working, now featuring sleep when closing lid!)

A few thoughts come to mind...

That must be a prototype since it says esata but shows a USB port.
What video chipset/processor does that thing carry?
Built in Wifi?
Does the HDMI carry audio? Why no fiber hookup for the audio?
Is that a serial port? Seriously... a serial port?
Cost?

This thing looks interesting. If it's relatively cheap, easy to hack and not hobbled with a shitty Intel graphics chip (sorry Intel... love your processors and chipsets but hate your graphics chips) then I'll bite. Ohh, and I hope I can hackintosh it too. Looks like Dells answer to the Mac Mini.

I'm thiking more along the lines of Dells answer to the Acer Revo.

HDMI does carry sound with the right drivers.
2 esata ports tho? Maybe theses are going to bereally cheap and they expect people to use them as servers.

probably ION I would think, anything branded HD and running nothing but Intel is False Advertisement. Tho it would be interesting if they were running something like Yukon too, but I'd highly doubt it, Dell is too Intel heavy...

Could we one day see one of these running osX as a media server?

Mac mini/apple tv watch out!

I have an adamo and the esata port doubles as a USB port. From the looks it does seem to be USB, so they might do the same with this product

Looks to be more like dell's answer to asus's nettop box. I dont think dell competes with apple. In fact, i dont think anyone really competes with apple anymore. Apple sells their name and status and they maintain that by keeping their products semi-exclusive due to price. Nobody else is trying to grab the most expensive computer products title from them, instead they're trying to go the other end to outsell the people they're actually competing against.

I would call it an attempt at combining htpc (though the fan makes that unlikely to win any awards) and itx form factor fileserver. I wouldn't call it a media server because it's obviously trying to be the displayer of content, not simply pushing it to a machine that does. It's for people who currently use their ps3 or xbox360 as a media center box and if the price is right, can't afford a real htpc setup. I definitely couldn't see dropping more than 200 bucks on it, especially if it's atom based.
