Orbit Micro has this extender for $45...but it does not go the full width across the mini-card and may not provide all the connections needed by the SSD.

We're going to need something more like this for for $56...and even it will take some modding.

@Dr Some-what Evil: Why this talk of no SATA on Mini 9? Intel clearly states support for 2 SATA ports as well as AHCI. See this page. I was a little disappointed that the ICH7-M doesn't have integrated RAID controller, but with SATA/AHCI I'll be happy. As for PATA only, mini-PCIe is interface. Same thing as desktop board with PCI slot. Plug in Ultra ATA controller card + Ultra ATA HDD = PATA HDD. Plug in SATA controller card + SATA HDD = SATA HDD. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't drive controller onboard SSD card? I am admittedly new to this arena of PC technology (Mini910), but not PC hardware and BIOS. I'd just like to thank Dell for not publishing full technical specs on this board :sarcasm:

It's nothing more than an extension for a X1 slot, don't see why it wouldn't.

EDIT: The second link has pics that can be expanded. You can see it has a 10+7 pin count where the SSD would need 18+8... so wouldn't work after all.

Hi Holmes4 what do you think about that drive? See it's still available on Amazon.de and also on various chinese sites.

No, I would say it is low quality. But if you must have that size, I think there are no other choices. Personally, I would not invest that kind of money into a Mini9 today.

given what you say i may fall back to a smaller size (but still bigger than my current 16G) or I might just add a 64G usb stick for storage - see there are some physically very small options out there.
