Yeah, i saw the pictures of these. It seems to me that in the one picture where the kid is touching the screen, it is showing how rugged it is, and how it can be poked at by little fingers; not touch screen per se - but that's just my oppinion.

Wish I had one of those in school

From Direct2Dell blog:
So what makes these netbooks suitable for education? Simply put, the Latitude 2100 was designed for students in the classroom. The Latitude 2100 netbooks feature a rubberized case for easier handling and increased durability, a clean vent-free bottom that helps avoid intrusion from spills, an optional carrying strap to make them easier to carry around. The netbooks have a network activity lights so that wireless connectivity can be monitored by educators and a webcam option. Another option is touch screen, that should be most useful for classes with younger children.

Although the fan statement in the pdf may be one of those catch-all disclaimers like the ones in the Mini9/Vostro A90/Mini10&10(v) pdf that also state they have fans.

Reading the Direct2Dell blog looks like this ruggedized Mini was purpose built without the bottom vents (only appears to have a vent on the side). Possibly no fan then?

To see the product details, go to Dell home page, choose "For Public Sector", then K-12 education, then laptops, then Latitude laptops, then Latitude Speciality, then Latitude 2100. Some direct links work sometimes, but not all the time. Very odd
