Default Can I simply clone my mini9 drive to my new 10v ? - 12-06-2009, 09:29 PM

Anyone tried it yet?

the 10v arrives on Monday, sure would be quicker using Carbon Copy Cloner!

Out of the box, everything work perfect (except mic in which I hand't bothered yet...)...

Yeah it should work, just make sure you run netbookinstaller once in the cloned 10v and everything should be fine.

Excellent!!

Did you know that cloning a drive and restoring it back really improves overall OSx performance?

I found this out by accident (on my big laptop) and reported it on insanelymac, and a couple of users attested the same result!

Snappier usage, and especially repairing permissions!

Just remember to run NBI on the drive once its in the new machine so that you'll get the set of extensions for a mini10v instead of the ones for the mini9 which would be on your original drive. Also, you'd want to boot with your NBM prepared install media to do this since the HD won't have the correct extensions.

Well, let me say this did NOT work, it came with A06 and had constant trouble. Tried installing fresh with HDD-enclosure-via-Mac (only method possible for A06 at the moment)... serious issues, even after sucessfull 10.6.1 update, app would KP's (in this case, CCC, didnt have much time with anything else...)

Downgraded to A04, fresh install, super sweet hassle free all the way to 10.6.2 with all audio working perfect and speedstepping.... oustanding. I am completely and I've been hackintoshing since Tiger !!

I didnt actually clone the drive, but A06 it finicky as a drunken monkey driving blinfolded with peanut butter spread under his nose....

Hey guys

firstly apologies for hacking the thread (congrats on the install by the way yidakee!) i have a dell mini 9 with mac os x on it and received a runcore 64gb ssd not long ago

Mentionings of NBI and NBM have me confused - do you run NBI from a usb stick via the boot menu? If not then i'm at a loss as to how i can successfully clone my OE 8gb ssd to my runcore...

Once i had cloned it all using Carbon Copy Cloner and install the runcore i get the message of Operating system not found - i assume this is because NBI has never ran?

Thanks for any help provided

That is right... Probably CCC did not clone/restore boot partition (??)
Put the 8gb SSD back boot your mini.
Connect the 64Gb with USB port (do they cam w/USB port still??).
Run NBI with defaul options, make sure you have selected the right SSD.
Swap the SSD and reboot

Hope this help

Clonezilla works to clone an OS X image from one mini to another. I restored OS X 10.6.7 on a Mini 9 from a Mini 10V after attempting to upgrade to 10.6.8. In addition to restoring the image on the Mini 9 the only other step was to run NetbookInstaller to get individual hardware components, such as the sound card, working.
