Battery from ebay won't charge -

I bought a battery on ebay from a seller called battery19. My Mini 9 gives the message " Does not recognize this battery. Not able to charge it." The seller so far has not responded. Any suggestions or explanations?

I screwed that up. His ebay user name is battery918. He has 99+ % positive feedback with thousands of sales. I was just wondering how these Chinese batteries have worked for others and why the Mini 9 doesn't recognize this battery. I recently bought a battery charger for my wife's Inspiron E1705 from a local computer store and also got the message that the computer didn't recognize the charger. Does anyone have any idea why this happens?

I see that I have posted this in the wrong forum. I have found the extensive posting on this subject under "Hardware problems". I am too new here to know my way around the site. I also received an email from the seller telling me to try a 12 hour charge as described in the proper forum.
