Default Updated 10v Hackintosh, now stuck in reboot loop - 07-11-2011, 01:22 AM

Hi guys,

My wife mistakenly did a full update of her Mini 10v through Software Update. Now when the machine starts, it's stuck in a reboot loop. Safe Mode doesn't work.

We have a Time Machine backup.

Any ideas on how I can boot up and apply NBI, or is there a better method?

Press and hold shift on booting, when on the chameleon boot screen, type: recovery=y and hit enter.

When I press and hold shift, the system beeps, then again enters the reboot loop.

Thanks. Out of curiosity, how do I install the item if I can't boot into the system?

Try to press and hold the shift key after the bios DELL logo disappear.

I can hold down shift, and I get the boot screen. I can type Recovery=y, but then the system reboots and again goes into the boot loop. I wonder if it's just time to reformat and reinstall?

Hhmm... Well, let's see....

It's been a long time since I used recovery=y, so I was stumped myself.

1. Hold shift.
[at the boot screen or immediately after the screen with the Dell logo]

2. On the screen with your hard drive name, type:

recovery=y & hit enter

3. Wait for OSX to load.

I did it on a Mini 9. (Hopefully it works all the same on a 10v.) Anyway, the system took a while to load, so I typed recovery=y again, but it had already worked the 1st time.

OSX loaded, & I was in there. Thank goodness. :-)

Please DON'T DO the following as it will not work!

What I was doing wrong before
: Getting to the screen with my hard drive name on it, pressing the down arrow, selecting boot, typing recovery=y & getting stuck in the reboot loop.... DUH! XD

I am stuck in boot loop as well with my Dell Mini 10V (1011) but holding shift does nothing. Everything was working fine and completely updated to 10.6.8 when on a normal restart I am stuck in boot loop. Any ideas how I can get back into OS X and fix boot issue?

Do you ever see the image of a hard drive after the Dell screen disappears? If so, you can press the down arrow to get the menu and then *without choosing a menu option* just start typing "recovery=y" and then hit enter.
