I'm like Hamlet: 9 or 10? That's the question...

Looking for a real "mini"...the 9!

Hmmmm. Updating from leopard (dellefi) to snow leopard (NBI0.83rc3) worked-- except it killed Front Row. When I run Front Row-- it just displays a black screen. SOME posts I've seen elsewhere attribute this to a potential GMA driver issue?

No other big reports of this issue yet, so I'm wondering if a vanilla/fresh install may work?

Folks-- even if you don't USE it, try "Front Row" and see if it works.. or hangs.. could be a video issue that we might be able to address here.

hm.

Back up your stuff and do a clean install man. Front Row works...I have no idea how DellEFI works, but I'm willing to bet the remnants of which during your upgrade is causing your problem.

DellEFI was great for the 10.5 version of OS X, but I can attest that the best way for me was a fresh install.

I initially did the upgrade to SL from a 10.5.8 DellEFI install, but things just weren't quite right.

I did a fresh install of SL weekend before last with the NBM/NBI RC 3 and the difference is really incredible.

OK, that's kind of what I was thinking. I'll do it probably tonight and get back here and post results.

Somehow I didn't get to customize the installation, is there some way for me to go back and remove the above? I followed your instructions, and I'm amazed that it's working for me! I'm so happy.

One more thing - if I'm doing a clean install of SL, do I need to run netbookinstaller after installing SL? I used Netbookmaker 0.8.3.RC3 to install SL.

When and how to update to 10.6.1. (10.6.2 needs a special tiny patch that spoofs the CPU so OS X doesn't think its an Atom).

OK I just googled for 10.6.1 update and found a page at Apple http://support.apple.com/kb/DL930 so I downloaded and ran that and it just works.
