Hi all,

I created a backup of my OSX install using CCC onto a USB. I can boot from the USB using the BootLoader. I installed Windows again to do some stuff as my other Windows laptop died. My other laptop is fixed now and I want to restore my mini 9 to whats on the USB.

I used GParted to delete the partitions. Booted via the USB and used Disk Utility to format the HDD as a single MAC partition. Then used CCC to copy the USB back to the HDD. When I tried to boot again (using the BootLoader) onto the HDD, I got as far as the apple logo and the and the spinning loading thing but it just kept spinning and didn't go any further.

What have I done wrong? Or is there another way of doing this?

Try to boot via USB again and run NBI choosing to reinstall Chameleon on your HDD.

Gave it a go but I get a kernel panic

Apart from re-installing OSX, is there anything else I can try? Should I also check the option for Dell tools when I run NBI on the internal HDD?

FYI - Re-installing is a last resort cause I have 10.6.4 installed as well as XCode, and I can't find where I have the 10.6.4 update or XCode files and not too keen on downloading the 5 or 6 GB worth again!

Oh, and the panic I get says something weird... wouldn't expect this?

Unsupported CPU: family = 0x6, model = 0x1c

Also says kernel version: Darwin Kernel Version 10.4.0.

OK. Darwin Kernel version is not exactly Mac OS version. My Mac OS X is 10.6.7 and Kernel as reported by uname -a is 10.7.0.
I guess you need to run the latest NBI from your HD. There may be at least two ways to do this:
1. Boot your HD with recovery=y
2. If recovery=y does not help. Boot via USB. Open Terminal. Run NBI from your hard drive with command line, something like this:
/Volumes/<YOUR_HARD_DRIVE_WITH_MAC_OS_X> /Applications/NetbookInstaller.app/Contents/MacOS/NetbookInstaller

Ah, my problem was I was using the 0.84 rc1 version of the NBI, not the version for 10.6.4. Once I ran the correct NBI a few times, it worked!
Thanks for the advice pcmaniac, helped me figure it out.
