Smile Anyone running X and Win 7 with DellEFI 1.2 alpha 5? - 07-13-2009, 11:38 AM

I have successfully installed OS X and Windows 7 (a long time ago, using DellEFI 1.1 and EasyBCD). I currently use Windows Boot Manager (via EasyBCD) to choose which OS to boot to. I'd like to have the nice Chameleon boot screen if possible. So, I'm thinking about using DellEFI 1.2. However, I'm worried about it messing up my install somehow. Has anyone done this (or have any idea if it might work or not)? Any info appreciated!

I used DellEFI 1.1 with Win7/OSX but dropped it in favor of EasyBCD because Chameleon doesn't support hibernation under Win7 so that's something to consider.

I've been dualbooting with 1.2a5 for a while now. Just upgraded to NetbookInstaller 0.8.1, not much difference, just testing it out for now.

Well, I took the plunge and ran 1.2a5. However, there is no Chameleon boot manager (or difference of any kind, actually...) Do I have to uninstall EasyBCD from Windows 7?

Further to that, I found some Chameleon "themes"...does anyone know where these go?

As long as your Windows partitions are in the GPT (OSX sees them), all you need to do is install Chameleon from 1.2a5. It will set itself to boot and be able to select Windows.

I'm running Win 7 - RC1 (1), OSX (2) and XP (3). Never could get it to work with a FAT32 partition for XP, but otherwise it's works great with DellEFI 1.2a5.

Hmm, maybe this is the problem? My Windows 7 partition never shows up on the Mac desktop and vice versa...

I _did_ install Chameleon from 12.a5 (by selecting the "install Chameleon" box). That's why it's weird that there's no Chameleon boot manager. Do I have to install some other file or something?

I run XP/OSX with Chameleon and 1.2a5 without any issues.
