![]() Madcamper, are you sure using 'the usb disk' which is jedparkes described in his message at Stage 1 (I copied it below)
You should check his instructions below and be sure all ok. I have used this instructions to prepare USB disk at the before the first (10.6.0) installation and use same disk for 10.6.4 update. It has NBI option in Utilities section. Stage 1 Prepare USB HDD 16GB or bigger to boot and install OS X (I used a external 300GB HDD but anything should work) On your Mac OS X 10.6 with DVD-ROM drive and USB port: 1. Insert the Mac OS X Snow Leopard retail disc into the Mac’s DVD drive (10.6.0 DVD), and connect the external USB drive to the Mac too 2. Launch the ‘Disk Utility’ 3. Select the external USB drive in the left-hand column 4. Select the ‘Partition’ tab and then under “Volume Scheme:” click on ‘Current’ and change it to ‘1 Partition’ 5. Change ‘Name:’ to “OSXDVD” and ensure that ‘Format:’ is set to “Mac OS Extended (Journaled)”. 6. Click ‘Apply’ and then ‘Partition’ and give the Mac a moment to format your USB drive and create the new partition 7. Next we need to copy Snow Leopard to the USB drive: select the ‘Restore’ tab. 8. From the left-hand pane, click and drag the ‘Mac OS X Install DVD’ icon to the ‘Source:’ field and release. 9. From the left-hand pane, click and drag the ‘OSXDVD’ icon to the ‘Destination:’ field and release. 10. Tick the ‘Erase destination’ box, then click the ‘Restore’ button and then click ‘Erase’. Allow between half an hour to 2 hours for the copy to complete. 11. Launch the ‘NetbookBootMaker 0.8.4pre.app’ application and from the select menu labeled ‘Select USB Partition:’ select the USB drive which is now titled ‘Mac OS X Install DVD’ and then click ‘Prepare Boot Drive’ (you’ll be prompted for the Mac Administrator’s username and password). 12. Once complete, you can eject the USB drive and disconnect it from the Mac. Original message link below: http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/gene...tml#post158422 |

![]() Wait a minute... just remembered someone talking about creating a new location under Network prefs... had tried it before and it didn't work, but since I'm trying to connect to another network now I tried it and it all connects automatically. Hallelujah! |

![]() Ok, that worked. Thanks wolf. I have one small other issue though, I was dual booting windows 7(on a partition from the Mac OS X HD) and Mac OS X using Easy BCD. Now I don't get my dual boot menu for Windows 7 and Mac OS X, it just boots straight into Mac OS X. Is there anyway of fixing this?

![]() Finally got WIFI working with Trendnet TEW-644UB. Drivers available here TRENDnet | Downloads | Wireless | TEW-644UB. Came packaged with drivers for 10.5 which worked, I downloaded the 10.6 drivers from trendnet and they worked as well. Took awhile to find the right wifi USB--there were many returns--this seems to be a winner and its wireless N.
I have Dell 1012 running 10.6.3, using meklorts' netbook installer pre. Cannot get 10.6.4 to work--its easy don't upgrade. ---------- Post added at 09:23 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:14 AM ---------- Quote:
This got 10.6.3 to load with netbook installer pre--I don't have to do it anymore. I also have not idea what it does, but it worked for me once or twice. |
