Default Getting rid of the Netbook interface - 10-12-2008, 06:50 PM

I think this is one of the first things I plan to do with my Ubuntu Mini9, is try to figure out how to remove the interface that Dell came up with, and put a standard Ubuntu interface in it's place. So here's a thread for discussing that. I'll document what I find, and maybe we'll eventually have a how-to..

From what I've read from Dell, you can turn it off pretty easily.

Just did it on a friend's Mini 9 -- it's a menu selection. Selection item, wait a few seconds, viola, no more Dell interface.

Yeah, quite easy. Now to expand the partition to the full size of the SSD and install Compiz.

Looks like we have the same agenda. I got so far as formatting the unused space to ext3 using gparted but I still cant seem to get it to extend. Any pointers?

I got Compiz up and running. Jiggly windows are in.. Seems to work quite well.

This would be good for a new topic (not jiggly windows, although it is cool), but getting the partitions resized.
