I would think maybe not since all the documentation etc just says SDHC. So unless someone actually tries it...

But do you really need more than 32gb? You can get SDHC cards up to 32gb and they are getting faster all the time. 16gb + 32gb = 48gb.... quite a lot to play with.

Well, if it doesn't work, you could always consider upgrading your ssd to 32gb or 64gb. Sorry, I can't provide any further info on whether the SDXC cards will work in the Mini 9, though.

I object to the claim that I am posting "nonsense". When SDXC was first described, there were extra pins. But, at least for now, it's just a controller change. Here is what Wikipedia says:

Compatibility with SDHC
SDXC host devices will accept all previous families of SD memory cards. Conversely, SDHC host devices will accept SDXC cards that follow Version 3.0, since the interface is identical,[3] but the following issues may affect usability:
SDXC cards that follow Version 4.0 will use the exFAT file system, which the host device might not support.
An SDHC host device will not test the capability bits newly defined for SDXC cards. It will therefore not be able to use the new features of SDXC, such as transfer speeds above UHS104.[23]
The maximum capacity of 32 GB for SDHC cards put them all within the limitations imposed by the FAT32 file system. Full support for all SDXC cards will require that the host device support exFAT.
As of 2011, Windows versions that support SDXC are: Microsoft Windows 7, Windows Vista SP1+,[3] Windows XP SP2 or SP3 with KB955704,[24] Windows Server 2008 SP1+, Windows Server 2003 SP2 or SP3 with KB955704, Windows CE 6+, Mac OS X 10.6.5 or later.[25]
Linux systems that support SDHC cards also support SDXC cards, as long as the card contains a compatible file system. A proprietary driver is available for the exFAT file system.[26]

I've used Windows XP, Vsta, 7, MAC OS X 10.5.8, 10.6 and Ubuntu on my DELL Mini 9. So I hope that I'll help you.

Few mounth ago I bought an used DELL Mini 9 (8GB SSD) with Windows XP. The first think that I did was to buy a 16GB SD HD card (to put all my documents). I hadn't any problem, becouse Windows XP had all the drivers installed.
But then, I've installed a reduced installation of Windows 7 (with vLite) and it doesn't read my SD HD. So I downloaded a driver from My DELL Mini Forum and all goes perfectly.
With MAC OS X and Ubuntu I had no problems.

You have a 16GB SSD, the doble of mine. It's a lot of space! You don't have to reduce any installation of MAC or Windows! You would have to be very happy! xD
Seriously, in my Netbook I only MS Office, Firefox, OpenOffice and some litle applications. If I want to use something more, I have my laptop DELL XPS 15. So, 16GB is enouth.
Obviously, if you would have a bigest SSD, you would install more programs. But, personally, I think that SSDs are very expensives.
Personaly, I bought my used Mini 9 for 90€, and I don't want to spend 60€ for a 32GB SSD, becouse for 190€ I could have bought a new netbook with a lot of GB.

If you get used, SSDs are not too bad.
