Hi,
I don't know where to put this thread so here it is.
I successfully recover the BIOS of my bricked Dell Inspiron 1370 using a thread I found on your website.
I used a USB stick instead of floppy drive.
Here is what I've done:
1. Download latest BIOS version from Dell for my 1370
2. Launch downloaded executable and copy BIOS.ROM file from tmp folder. Renamed it to BIOS.WPH
3. Download this file : wincrisis.1.0.0.4.zip and paste BIOS.WPH into wincrisis folder
4. Plug USB stick and launch wincris.exe as administrator on Windows XP 32 bits version (not 64bits!), wait for the key to be written.
5. Plug the USB stick into your dead Inspiron 1370 and remove its battery.
6. Press Fn + END and plug in the DC power.
7. Power LED will flash. Press Power Button without releasing Fn + END. FDD will read once, stop, then read for few seconds because it is booting from it. Release Fn + END.
8. Inspiron will reboot after few seconds and will beep intermittently and annoyingly. DO NOT DISCONNECT POWER. It WILL NOT reboot itself, to be sure that BIOS has been recovered, I waited 45min, maybe 20minutes is enough... but you have to know that these beeps will continue untill you unplug the DC power from your Inspiron, so just wait to be sure.
9. Turn it on, alleluia, it works!
