Question IE9 on the Duo - 03-31-2011, 01:14 PM

Hey All,

i upgraded from IE8 to IE9.

this upgrade was a definite plus, because not only is it smoother when using (CPU/GPU wise) but also more touchfriendly.

i`m wondering how y`all see this.

Grtz,

Janno

Are you a Facebook user? Do you play Farmville or Frontierville, or?? on Facebook? I ask this, because I upgraded one of my desktops to IE9, and it did NOT like Facebook games at all!! I did notice that regular web browsing was much faster and smoother though. Did anyone else have a similar Facebook experience with IE9?

I can't get ie9 or 5 of my updates to install. I love ie9 on my desktop though.
Any suggestions as to why it won't upgrade besides the updates that won't successfully install??

I like IE9 on my Duo also. I did not have any issues upgrading.

I of course use the Thinix TabletBrowser (which uses IE9 engine, so had to upgrade), as it is better browser experience for tablet.

I tried installing Thinix. But either the program, or my duo, won't remember the correct resolution to run it properly. Maybe I'll try installing thinix again. I also still can't get 5 different downloads to install.

I opted not to use Thinix, so I won't wander down that side road other than to say I liked it fine but didn't use it enough - if it had come pre-installed I would have kept it and I may go back to it again later)

IE9 will install best direct for the IE site

Download Internet Explorer 9 - Microsoft Windows

Unless you have changed your version of Windows, do not install the 64-bit version. The 64-bit version is usually the 'default' version when you do a search on IE and it won't run on a 32-bit (x86) windows install like the Duo comes with stock

Get rid of Bing and avoid the pre-installed add-ons and it actually performs very well. Compatability mode will see a lot of use, but that's ok - it works much better than IE8's compatability mode
