Default Ubuntu wireless doesnt work mini 10v - 04-21-2010, 09:00 PM

i have a mini 10v which came pre installed with windows 7 starter (it sucks)
so i installed ubuntu 9.10 and i tried the ubuntu 9.04 which was updated by DELL but i havent been able to work the wireless in either of them. 9.10 only connected to wirelesses without encryptions and the dell version of ubuntu didnt see that any wireless' were available....any ideas ?

Ubuntu on the Dell Mini: Broadcom Wireless Driver Fix In Lucid

I have only tried this on the 9 but I think it is the same adapter but you will need an ethernet connection. If this is impossible maybe look for a usb adapter that is supported out of the box on ubuntu. You would only need it once so maybe use a friend's. Only if you don't have ethernet though.

solved by installing XUBUNTU its the only version of ubuntu that wifi works perfect with

All version should work, but all need the driver installed. I'm not sure why Xubuntu work, maybe their driver dialog was less confusing?

xubuntu already includes drivers u dont have to install anything.
and i tried all the drivers for ubuntu and unr but not one of them worked as good as xubuntu does....have no idea why...
