Resurrecting an old thread but has anyone been able to make a tutorial to go from SL to lion? I recently just went to 10.6.8 and it feels slower than when I was at 10.6.7. No hardware problems compared to 10.6.7 just slower.

I am currently trying to install Lion on an asus eeepc 900a that has nearly identical specs to other netbooks.

n270 1.6ghz
gma950
1024x600
2gb ram

I have a fully working dual boot 10.6.8 and windows 7 sp1 on a minipci-e 64gb ssd and have an extra 32gb minipci-e ssd that I am trying to load lion on. I have gotten as far as the apple logo screen but I will also see about the dp1 files swap if that makes a difference. I will be getting my hands on a Lion dp1 disc soon. Stay tuned.

As you might have gathered from this thread, claims that it can be done should be taken with a carton of salt. Lion requires a 64-bit capable processor, which the N270 isn't. I saw some posts about allegedly copying in a 32-bit kernel, but I just don't see how that's really a solution.

Where do I get Match_kernel_dp1_atom_apic?

I googled "Match_kernel_dp1_atom_apic" and only references to this guide come up. There isn't a Match_kernel_dp1_atom_apic in the DP1 disk/image is there? I thought atom support went bye-bye by the time 10.6.3 rolled out.

Probably Mach not Match. I get some hits for that. mach is the name of the kernel used by OS X.

Hello everyone,

I did it (installed Lion 10.7.0 final with necessary DP1 32 bit files) on the eeepc 900A, atom N270 1.6ghz 32 bit processor, gma950. Video and tutorial coming soon (probably this weekend since I am not much of a football fan, super bowl will not stop me). I thought it might not bee able to have been done with the previous posts, but I will (if I can) give a link of all the necessary files (including DP1 files), minus the 10.7 Lion final installer which you should already have.

10.7.0 final build 11A511 on Asus 900A
cpu: N270
graphics: GMA950 (0x27AE ID rev 0003)
(I only take credit in putting together this method of install. All kexts and info were taken from the web, but I mixed and matched so much that I don't remember where most of this came from)


I Installed 10.7.0 final build 11A511 directly on the mini pcie ssd through a mini pcie to usb adapter on my desktop hackintosh. I then booted up my desktop hackintosh normally (with the normal internal drive, not the pcie ssd connected with the usb adapter) and installed multibeast on the mini pcie ssd. I used 4.7.0 and installed:

Easybeast install
Motherboard Plugins (optional but works well with temperature monitors)
legacy usb support (I find it helps ps2 support)
32-bit Apple Boot Screen

That is it from Multibeast

I then pasted mach_kernel_dp1_atom_apic to the root of the drive and modified the org.chameleon.Boot.plist to reference mach_kernel_dp1_atom_apic instead of just mach_kernel (some just rename the modified kernel to mach_kernel but changing the reference in org.chameleon.Boot.plist saves all the old kernels that you might try and remind you the name and where you got it).

Next, I replaced the finder.app in System/Library/Coreservices/

Then I went to System/Library/privateframeworks/ubiquity.frameworks/versions/ and created a folder named A, then pasted Ubiquity in it (I am not sure if this is necessary, but this is what I read from another post.)

Then I opened kext wizard (not kextbeast, I used both for this installation, kextbeast later) and installed the following kexts to system/library/extensions (these happen to be everything but graphics and ps2 kexts since they don’t seem to take before rebooting the drive):

AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext
AppleIntelCPUPowerManagementClient.kext
AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext
VoodooHDA.kext
AppleACPIPlatform.kext
VoodooBattery.kext

Then I went to maintenance in kext wizard and checked both repair permissions and rebuild cache.

Then I ejected the ssd from the hackintosh and installed and booted it up on the asus 900A. When it finally got to the desktop, I already had audio and battery indicator working, but I needed a usb keyboard and mouse to finish the setup.

Then, I used kextbeast (not kext wizard) to install the rest of the kexts (this is the one where you need to copy and paste the kexts to the desktop and then run kextbeast. I think I needed to reinstall some, so for good measure I just reinstalled all the kexts again):

4 kexts starting with AppleIntelGMA
Natit.kext
AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext
ApplePS2Controller.kext

+ again for good measure:
AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext
AppleIntelCPUPowerManagementClient.kext
AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext
VoodooHDA.kext
AppleACPIPlatform.kext
VoodooBattery.kext

At this point I went back to kext wizard’s maintenance and checked repair permissions and rebuild cache.

I rebooted and had a nearly perfectly working hackintosh. I already swapped the wifi card to an apple branded Atheros card I got on ebay for about $15 that works well.

Also, I would recommend a mini pcie to usb adapter since I got stuck a few times trying to get everything right and had to take it out and use kext wizard on it to repair permissions and rebuild cache. Do not skip those steps.

just 3 more things to do after install if you want less than 100% CPU usage all the time:
Terminal commands to stop spotlight and reportcrash:

sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist

launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.ReportCrash.plist

sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.ReportCrash.Root.plist



and to stop autosaving, I deleted revisiond from System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/GenerationalStorage.framework/Versions/A/Support/

Yes, yes, I know. That video has to be one of the worst quality videos on Youtube. I just quickly picked up my phone and started recording. I might do it right next time and post that video, but you get the idea. I also have a laptop with the dreaded Intel HD Graphics aka GMA5700 aka Intel HD 5700 (not to be confused with Radeon). It does not get QE/CI with Lion or Mountain Lion, only Snow Leopard, but I think I can do this with that laptop to and at least have Lion 10.7.0 and QE/CI (acceleration, or Quartz Extreme / Core Image for those who didn't know) since it appears to be a matter of 32bit vs 64bit drivers. And this method of using DP1 files (I did not mention DP1 on youtube, but I doubt it matters) to get Lion to run fully in 32bit mode should do the trick. I will report back with that too, and maybe a slightly better video.
