@dchao, stuck in the reboot loop at step 8. Holding shift down at reboot only gives the hard drive prompt and doesn't launch chameleon. Any ideas?

If you see a grey background and your hard drive as a selection choice, type "recovery=yes".

That is Chameleon.

Thanks for clarification. Typed it in and assumed that this was the "safe boot" mentioned in step 9.

Thanks @dchao and @underwhelmed for helping me get my Dell Mini 10 patched with 10.6.8. KEXT died on me after installing and had to force quit it for a reboot, but the mini rebooted with no problems.

Worked like a charm!

Nawcom's blog seems down. Does anyone have:

legacy_kernel-10.6.8.v2.pkg.zip and SleepEnabler.kext.10.6.8.zip

Thanks in advance!

Just found them at kexts dot com (can't post a link as I've been lurking for years, but never posted).

Got the Mini 9 live with 10.6.8!

Mini 10v is cantankerous. Stuck on the NBI screen in step 7... Past here is not so tough. Just want to get there, and don't want to force the restart on the hung NBI.

Quite stokes about being able to use my Mini 9 for automated testing at work. That it can be viable after scoring the 10v is great!

Been stuck at step 9 for a LONG time with my 10v. Made the mistake of using the installer for the legacy_kernel. Last time, on the Mini 9, I just renamed the "legacy_kernel" and got going. This time, I keep getting "Unable to patch 64bit kernel. Please use arch=i386 to use 10.6.2 or newer kernel. Can't find legacy_kernel."

Downloaded a new copy of legacy_kernel, but it hasn't fixed my problem with my 10v. Same message. Thought to place the legacy_kernel in there. Was at the endless spinner point of the Apple screen. Remove it, and the "Unable" message returns.

Help?

Note that recovery=yes no longer gets me to boot...

Fresh install of OSX 10.6.3 -> 10.6.8 Combo (via software updater). Thanks to dbculp (kick a$$ thread), dchao (steps) and r6680jc (special NBI version link).

Dell Mini 9
Bios A04
1GB RAM
STEC 16GB SSD
Legacy USB, USB Wake & Bluetooth disabled
Sound & Sleep working!

PS
Just noticed my camera not working & mic only works when plugged in to jack . Anyone else run into this?
