Wink remove wifi card replace with ssd? YES OR NO? - 06-10-2009, 04:42 AM

I know the SSD in the half pci-e slot is pata.
Is it possible to remove the wifi pci-e and replace it with another SSD that is NOT pata? If it is possible, I don't mind temporarily running with a usb wifi until I can hack the usb for internal wifi again.

Each slot is wired differently.

In addition, the WLAN slot is physically shorter than the SSD slot, so an SSD wouldn't fit properly, as it was designed for a single sided card.

i tried an stec 16gb in all the slots, wifi and wlan. i hear there is no way because there is no ide channel on the wireless slots. but i was thinking that you can install a runcore ssd and use the usb pins on the wlan socket. especially if your system does not have the wlan connector, you can solder the 4 pads where the conector goes that corespond to the usb bus to the usb cable for a runcore. i dont remember the pin numbers for the usb channel but they are available in other threads on this forum. i was actually considering this option until i decided to just buy a western digital passport external drive on sale.
