Exclamation Frustrated with GMA 500 Drivers - 03-03-2012, 03:44 AM

Hey guys,

I have a dell mini 10 here. Installed the preview and everything went smoothly. The problem is the GMA driver. It keeps on giving an error of "Your operating system doesn't meet the minimum requirement..." and exits. I've tried multiple versions of the windows 7 driver, they all come back with the same error. Has anyone have this problem and found a way around it?

Yeah, still no go. Same error. I can't be the only person having this problem.

You're not, I'm having it too on my 10v. Tried different versions of the drivers, no luck. Been meaning to try the registry edit even though people have said it doesn't work anymore, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

It'll suck if I have to go back to win7 just because of this. But since my dell min is far from being my primary PC, I'm going to wait a bit and see if a solution presents itself. I'll post on this thread if I find anything of merit.

I had the same problem, the solution is to install the driver from the Dell support website, just search a windows 7 driver for the machine using your service tag to be sure.
The driver is dated 2009, but works under windows 8.

It installed okay on my Mini 9. The only drivers I installed the 2nd time around were for the Chipset, Graphics, CapsLock Notify, Function Keys, Wireless Enable/Disable, Battery Meter, & SD card slot to get rid of the exclamation marks/unknown devices in the Device Manager.

I'm not sure the Chipset driver was necessary, as I forgot to look in Device Manager before I installed it. As well, I ended up installing some of the other things because I couldn't figure out what the Base System devices were, until I remembered the SD card slot.... (My slot seems to be malfunctioning on my Mini 9, so it really is not the first thing I think of at all.)

Even though programs, like the Battery Meter, etc., were gotten from another Mini that came with Windows 7, the programs still needed XP SP3 Compatibility settings. I don't know what that was about at the moment.

I did try installing programs with my 1st install. Firefox was okay & so was Opera.... MBAM also was successful. IE10 kept crashing on me & so did Firefox at one point when I attempted to use the Intel Driver Update Utility. One time, when I was fiddling with the Internet Options, I got this Jet Exception, where the error windows just kept on coming with different stop locations....

It was kind of funny when I went to install MSE & it wouldn't install because it was incompatible. Nonetheless, there's Windows Defender (right)?

Overall, though, it isn't so bad! Maybe I will continue looking around the Consumer Preview!
