While Win8 looks cool and all, none of the metro apps actually work. IE is about the only program that actually works on this dev build.

Yeah, Metro thinks the resolution is 800x600. Practically speaking, it works like Window 7 that boots faster. :-)

I can't get 2 finger scrolling to work. Has anyone had luck with this?

On a dell inspiron duo it Works flawless and blazing fast.
Boot to the mountains lock screen is about 7 seconds.
To functional metro desktop takes 4 more.

Multitouch, metro apps and all works.

Did you have to configure anything for multitouch?

Default dell mini 9, windows 8, and playback issues - 01-27-2012, 03:45 PM

Well I followed the steps on the first page of this forum to install windows 8. Things went fine, but there was no mention of installing drivers. Is this taken care of by Win 8, or still necessary to install manually form the dell website?

Also I installed plex, and I had it running on my mini through os x before. Problem is now it doesn't even seem to play 720p content (just stutters along suuuuper slow), much less 1080p which it should be able to in an encoded form....Any thoughts?

Win 8 installed all the drivers I needed, though if you want to use the Metro interface you'll need to install the Intel video chipset driver and edit the registry as explained in this forum.

So far i am liking this on the Mini9, I'll bet it's really nice on the Duo. The other driver that needs installing is the camera driver which I downloaded from Dell's website.
