Hi Michaelcly,

I have no problem with sound, Wi-Fi or bluetooth after sleep on my 10.6.8. They all return within 5 seconds or so after returning from sleep.

Did you use the installer that came with the legacy kernel or the renaming procedure as in post 7?

I used DCHAO's renaming procedure in post 7, apart from repairing the permissions.

Got a Mini 9 a couple of days ago, installed OS X 10.6.0 and updated it directly to 10.6.8 according to post #7 method: runs beautifuly, including sleep.

Only thing not working is the internal microphone...

Great thanks to Dchao for your great tutorial !

It's highly possible that security patch would work if you edit the .pkg so that it's validation check works against 10.6.7... and assuming that nothing else has changed between 10.6.7 and 10.6.8.
It's possible to stay with 10.6.7 and apply Java for 10.6 update 8. Just change the system version number from 10.6.7 to 10.6.8 with the tutorial from Justin's blog (tutorial-change-mac-os-x-system-version).

1. Open Terminal
2. Type sudo nano -w /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist
3. Press Enter. You will be prompted for your password. Type it in. You won’t see it on your screen. Press Enter again.
4. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the end of the 10.6.7 under ProductUserVisibleVersion and erase the version number and replace it with 10.6.8
5. Repeat for the version number displayed under ProductVersion.
6. Press ^X (Control-X) to exit. It will ask you if you wish to “save modified buffer.” Press y. It will then ask for a file name to write. Press Enter to accept the default.
7. Exit Terminal

Very simple. Works fine. My fake 10.6.8 accept the Java update.

can someone please send me a link to download the netbook special installer 351? I'm running a 10v with 10.6.0 and want to make the jump to 10.6.8. Thanks!

This may be of interest to those who have not installed 10.6.8 and who have been having intermittent problems with no sound (as indeed I had been on my Mini 10v up to and including 10.6.7).

Since installing 10.6.8 and subsequent security patches, the onboard sound on my Mini 10v has given no problems at all, it is always available.

This is probably my most stable iteration of Snow Leopard since my original 10.6.0 installation 2 1/2 years ago!

So did anyone ever repeat the process in the original post and get a working system? Everything I've read seems to indicate that a patched kernel is required on Atom (per post 7).

cpu-x shows 1.6ghz all the time and battery life is very poor..

Voodoopowermini causes a KP

0.8.5pre causes problems with wireless and sound
