basically same as esecabron.

Let software update run and it put me in an endless boot cycle.

Booted my 10v with recovery=y

got legacy kernel from here:

[UPDATED] legacy kernel for OS X10.6.8 / Darwin 10.8.0, SleepEnabler — nawcom's bitchblog

Put it on a USB thumbdrive. Ran it. Ran nbi, repaired permissions, rebooted. No audio, but all else is fine (yes, I had audio before.)

esecabron and akakack...it works on mine too, updated legacy kernel after accidentally updating a week ago to 10.6.8, and all is well now, even Audio is working. Thanks all on the boards.

Is microphone working for any of you? Did you have to apply the sound fix? Frankly, if the microphone doesn't work, that would be the deal breaker for me. I'm still on 10.6.2 and everything is working perfectly.

Thanks for reporting. Now if someone could confirm that the mini 9 is also working with the mic, that would seal it.

Question 07-10-2011, 01:23 PM

So my mom "accidentally" updated and got stuck in the moebius.

Followed the instructions here i.e.: recovery=y, install new kernal, rerun NBI, Fix permissions, reboot.

All's well. Sound input and output both working.

The question is. Do I risk mine?

update:
I "accidentally" updated as well.
All's well... .

Unhappy no luck... - 07-16-2011, 01:17 AM

Hi Folks,
I was feeling optimistic from my thread so I downloaded the fix previously mentioned in this thread, and updated from 10.6.6 to 10.6.8. Left the installer running when I left for work today and when I got home it had completed and booted seemingly into safe mode (no wifi, default desktop). I ran the fix utility, then NBI and now I'm in the reboot loop. Even when I try the hold-down-shift then recovery=y, some things run in verbose but then it restarts...
Any hope for a solution, or is it time for a clean install and combo update to 10.6.7??
Please help! thanks!!!

I'm on 10.6.2 using NBI 0.8.3, and just got a HD screen, so wanted to try to upgrade the OS. The mirror friendly 950 kext worked ok, but avi playback stuttered and the OS animations were not smooth, so I used the one in the package. The std gma kext showed movies and animations smoothly, though I had to wait 2 minutes after the screen went black at boot up. Opening and closing the lid wakes the display, but loses outboard speakers (headphones work fine).

Did you use a special version of NBI 20100616212351? If so, I'm willing to give it a try.
