I have the same problem (Dell Mini9, 10.6.4), NetbookInstaller 20100616212351.

Deleting the /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist does not help, after rebooting the list is populated with those "zombie" devices again.

I wonder where those devices come from...

Default Devices still being added - 07-26-2010, 09:20 AM

I edited /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist using Pref Setter (nice free plist editor by the way) as described in this thread. However, after a few days those fake devices returned.

I could not track down what causes those fake devices to be added - any ideas? What could I do to keep them to return?

I got sick and tired of the bluetooth device table filling up so I restored from a back up of 10.6.2 made before I upgraded. Mac OS 10.6.2 runs so much better but I still pick up a few zombie devices every now and then. The problem is much less severe now but it's still there. The only difference now is the newer version of NetbookInstaller. I used to run on 0.8.3 and now I'm running on 0.8.4_2020100616212351. This problem didn't exist in 10.6.2 with NBI 0.8.3.

Anyway, I'm much happier with 10.6.2.

This is still happening in 10.6.5, I can't figure it out. Tried what was suggested in this thread to no avail, always have phantom devices, but at least devices I have paired work also.
