Default HD Controller Specs - 11-20-2009, 03:32 PM

I'm trying to determine for what specs to look in an SSD, and I was wondering if anyone had seen the specs for the 2100's HD controller? I looked at the Dell documentation, here [Documentation]

but I did not find what I needed. Didn't see anything here in the forums, either -- but links or suggestions are welcome.

Thanks.

P.S. Found this SSD:

Newegg.com - FileMate SolidGO 3FMS2B060M-WR 2.5" 60GB SATA II & Mini USB 2.0 MLC Internal / External Solid state disk (SSD) - Solid State Disks

in case anyone else is interested.

I believe the Latitude 2100 uses the ICH7 mobile I/O controller. One important thing to note is that it's only capable of 1.5Gbps SATA, so the fastest SSDs will be bottlenecked by the controller. But they should still be plenty fast.

Thanks for the info. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't purchasing more -- or much more -- drive than the controller could handle. That is, I know they will handle any drives that meet the spec, but I didn't want to pay more for features I could never use.
