Can't blame them. With a compelling product like Win7 in the pipeline they did the most logical thing. Don't mention Vista and extended XP to stave off whatever linux could muster and they won. My apologies to the FOSS crowd but the world rejects your sol'n despite being free...we'd rather pirate windows.

XP will be dead this product cycle.

I still want one though, and if I get enough from the sale of my Mini 9, I'll buy one. It comes to $445 total, w/ student discount, tax, and free shipping.

But, I do hope they offer some kind of promo pricing when options and configurations start showing up. Can't give up hope just yet.
Yes I believing, its official!

I do know why they wanted it raise 399 to 449, because AAspire AS1410 selling for 449. C'mon *dell*. But I believe that they will drop from 449 to 399 or 350 in few months.. I bet that.

Anyway You really tempt me to selling LT31 and get Dell 11z.. thank alot, hahaha ..

I'm tempted to get an Aspire 1410 now, after reading a few reviews. The 6-cell battery is flush with the case, and the Core 2 Solo is a much better processor than the Celeron 723. At the same price point, it just seems like you're getting more with the Acer.

Sold my Mini 9 for a larger netbook, one that's easier on my wrists and hands.
Current Machine: 2010 MacBook Pro 13", 2.4 GHz C2D, 4GB RAM, Win7 Pro x64/OS X 10.6.3

And I play with my girlfriend's Mini 10v ^_^.

Interested in using MATLAB on the Mini 10v? Check out my benchmarks!

I agree. The Acer has better specs for the same price. It's time for Dell to wake up!

Having sold & worked on Acer PCs at Best Buy (Geek Squad), I'd be the first one to say don't get an Acer, except the Aspire One series. THOSE are nice, and from what I've read, the 1410/1810T comes from the same pedigree. The 1410 is an Aspire One in vanilla Aspire clothing.

But, back on topic...

Can't comment on whats inside; but yesterday at work someone had a Aspire 1 and I set it down next to my 1010. This was the first time I had seen the two systems side by side. The Dell's workmanship is much better than the Acer. The fit, finish and just the way it looks; the Dell is the hands down winner. fdalbor

I had another rep tell me it was because it's "a fast track model". ummm... so??? THAT'S HOW IT SHOULD BE!!. I shouldn't have to wait a month when ordering from the website. We are being charged for what should be the norm.

I think it's safe to say that when asking a Dell rep about anything, take it with a grain of salt. It seems some just pull excuses or reasons out of their ass to make them look better for whatever reason.

FWIW, my wife's is listed with a HD WLED screen as well.
