I just tested using YouTube, and I can confirm that it is indeed working for me. I hit Fn+F7, get the mute icon, and audio is muted. Volume control is working fine as well.

Maybe herooftime and the others without working mute have a different bios than those of us that have working mute? My BIOS is currently A03, I have the FN keys set to Multimedia and I am still running OS X 10.5.6.

FYI. BIOS in mine is v03, keyboard is set to multimedia key, 10.5.7. (DSDT patched) mute works on both internal speaker and headphone.

Not quite sure if you would need the DSDT patched since I am running my 10v without one. I completely deleted my DSDT file when I reinstalled the bootloader onto my 10v when I received it a few weeks ago.

I'm using the A03 BIOS (multimedia keys default) and 10.5.7. To clarify, I have no mute with either internal or headphones. I had a shortcut mapped to F7, the same key as mute, but disabling it made no difference. I will try to reinstall the kexts but use the DSDT patch this time and see if it's different.

If anyone can post a step by step on how to patch the DSDT file with the changes on post one of this thread that would be GREATLY appreciated!

I have sound working perfect except I can't mute the headphones, only the built-in speakers.
