Default Internal microphone not working? - 06-18-2009, 01:00 AM

I just got my 2100 and tried to use Skype, but it can't find my microphone. I assumed that since I have a webcam, I also have a built-in microphone. Is that correct? I've turned the volume up on the RealTek settings, etc., but no response. Anyone know how to test the microphone?

Good morning. Which OS are you using? I guess it is a version of Windows. Please check in Sounds at the Control Panel in the Preferences of the Digital Mic, if the level is set to the max. You can adjust this later if it is too loud. Does that work?

For the record, I'm using XP SP3(which came with it). I thought I had already tried your suggestion, but the problem must have been that the check box for "use only default devices" was not allowing my selection of the digital mic to stick. Problem seems to be resolved.

How are you finding W7 RC on the unit? Is it performing well?

Thanks.

Yeah, I'm really excited about Windows 7. It performs very well, but I have no comparison with Windows XP on the same machine, because I bought the 2100 without OS. All in all I'm very happy with the 2100.
