For anyone who wants a step by step guide to creating a Windows 7 USB drive, check this out: Install ANY version of Windows 7 by making your own USB install drive | Windows 7 Center

Looks interesting!

matt1219, those messages mean that your USB is not bootable, or that you have disabled Legacy USB.

Could it have something to do with me running OS X on the SSD? PLEASE HELP!
I'm getting the same thing. I tried formatting my usb drive with the HP program (newest version I could find) and I also tried the link that was posted that showed how to do it in cmd prompt. I'm using the same exact drive that I used to do this before. wtf?

Sal57 you helped me out so much! I've been on this website for a long time just browsing around now being able to do much or contribute much because of me not being about to get os x or win 7 onto my netbook. So i came upon this thread and reliezed that what you said was genius! I am in the middle of the upgrade process and couldnt be any happier. I just cleanly installed it onto my main computer and now im looking forward to having win 7 on my netbook! Thank you so much for your post and for relieving alot of my un-needed stress/confusion on this topic. Speaking of thanks; tomarrow is thanks giving and im thankful for this fourm!

Ok i have a really really noob question. since i only have a 2gb usb drive i need to borrow one from a friend. i know that it will erase all his things (i'll back it up) but my question is this:
after i'm done with the install and everything, how do i get the drive back to normal so he can use it? is it simply just deleting all the windows stuff?

Yes, you could just delete the files, or reformat the drive as FAT32.

This is what I get also. Could it have something to do with OSX already being installed?

Using the newest HP program is your problem. You have to use version.. 2.3.6 I think?

Smile Microsoft "has an app for that.." - 12-24-2009, 11:44 PM

I've just downloaded the "Microsoft Store Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool" from http://images2.store.microsoft.com/p...B-DVD-tool.exe - see Microsoft Store: Download Manager Help for Help file.

Formats the USB drive and copies the files from a Windows 7 ISO to the drive. Looks pretty simple to me. Gonna try it when I unwrap my 64Gb RunCore tomorrow...
