Default Dell Mini 10v RAM Upgrade Guide - 06-08-2009, 03:38 PM

Forum member anguish has successfully upgraded the RAM in his Dell Mini 10v, and has been so kind to document the whole process. In the first Dell Mini 10 ( Model #1010 ), it was impossible to upgrade the RAM using conventional methods as it was soldered it. However with the different chipset in the 10v ( Model #1011 ) upgrading is now possible and this seems to be the first proof of it.

As can been seen from the first video alone, the method of upgrading the RAM in the 10v is, for a word, lengthy. The whole process takes our keen member over 27 minutes. There is a lot of dismantling and prying apart required which may put off some would-be upgraders. It is certainly not as easy we've seen in the Mini 9.

See the rest of the Dell Mini 10v RAM upgrade video in the full post.

You'd think that after making the 9 so easy to upgrade that Dell would decide not to make succeeding models impossible or pain in the ass to upgrade.

Oh well. I'm happy with my 9

A bit harrowing at times prying the thin plastic bits off, but successful! Thanks for the tips.

The video has some great moments and some drama, and the static camera angle is revolutionary. The script suffers a bit when the cables get mushed under the mobo, but then it soars, taking the viewer on a thrill ride with a satisfying conclusion.

In other words, I just did this along with the video, and succeeded magnificently. I actually got it back together three minutes before Anguish did because I'm a d-bag A-type.

Thanks, Ang! Great help.
