Default wifi antenna mod? - 02-11-2009, 12:30 AM

what about using a couple of these:

with a couple of these:

i was thinking to put some antennas in the lcd cover, maybe using a right angle antenna connector, like this one:

but with a female connector, or attached to a female-female adapter, but i boubt if it gonna fit well in there

i'm "borowing" my neighbor wifi signal, so i was obsesively thinking in some of these option to improve the signal reception, with "big" ideas like using a wifi bridge with an external antenna and a wifi router connected to it  anything to avoid me standing next to my open window in this winter

You might consider a Wi-Fi repeater. Or, pay for your own d*** Internet access!

This forum has a maximum width on images of 600 pixels. I noticed the same thing myself when I ws posting some other images last week. Back on topic though - this looks very interesting. I need to read up more on that hack, I especially like the antenna.

The wifi antennas in the Mini already run up into the lid assembly, so this probably wouldn't do much extra.

Also, from looking at the other screenshots you posted, not having a ton of basestation/accesspoints stomping all over each other on channel 1 would make more of a difference than sticking a ridiculously large antenna on your Mini. Of course, if you're just leeching off other people's access points, you probably have no control over what channel they're broadcasting on.

I'm also interested in a mod to extend the range of my mini 9 wifi antenna but I don't want to be the first to try it.

seems to me the cost to benefit ratio isn't worth it. Cost meaning the literal cost of items, plus the time modding- and if an external antenna is used - the loss of design appeal.

It seems, from the jpg, that the wireless signals that were already good, didn't get any better, only weak signals got better reception - which still weren't great.

8gb - alpine - finally OS X
