Default Fixed HDD none - 04-24-2013, 09:17 AM

Hi all,
i'm trying to "revive" my mini 9, i bought a 32 GB runcore SSD from amazon, I replaced the old one but when I try to install a new OS (in my case lubuntu 12.10) it doesn't detect my ssd and the bios says there is no hdd.

I thinked it was a bios issue so I upgraded it to the latest version (from A00 to A07) but nothing changed.

What could I try to make it works?

The Mini 9 cannot use a Serial SSD. It only uses a mini-PATA 50mm PCI-e Solid State Drive

If it does not say that it will fit the Mini 9 or Vostro 90 then it probably will not work.

Thanks, i didn't have that information.

I would take another look at installation. It is possible that it isn't fully seated & also check that the screws are not grounding it out. I am sure you were careful putting it in, but it is worth rechecking. While that little 'bugger' looks pretty easy to remove & install several have had issues.

It is also possible that you have a bad SSD.

Added. Did the old SSD work?

I tried to reinstall the ssd in its location and then the bios correctly detected the ssd, but the installation program diddn't and when i checked again in the bios the ssd was 'none' I also tried to use a windows pc and the adapter and after a few tries appeared in the computer screen but suddenly disappered.

At this point I think it could be an hardware issue.

The old ssd works fine

Agreed, the new SSD must be the issue. Just curious, why not use the old SSD?

Added. I just had another thought, is this an OEM SSD that needs to be formatted 1st? I bought 3 OEM HD's from Newegg that I had to format before I could install 10.04 (using 12.04 currently).
