Default Dell Chromium OS May13th Build - Patches - 10-18-2011, 11:45 PM

The May13th Dell Chromium OS build is a bit dated but very stable. It has one minor issue of not displaying the Wi-Fi signal strength, Battery, etc, Icons in the browser.

I fixed this by downloading a May14th vanilla build and copying the /opt/google/chrome directory.

Here are the files I copied, a script to install them and instructions.
Open a terminal "ctrl+alt+T" and issue the following commands:
  1. shell
  2. cd ~/Downloads
  3. sh ./patch_chromium.sh
  4. enter your root password "dell1234" and wait for the script to finish.
The script will kill all running chrome processes and may take a few seconds to restart.

If you run this before installation to your hard drive, reboot and for some reason it won't boot. Just load your usb and install again. I've ran into this problem with and without using this patch.

If sound isn't working this script should fix it.Open a terminal "ctrl+alt+T" and issue the following commands:
  1. shell
  2. sh ~/Downloads/patch_sound.sh
  3. enter your root password "dell1234" and wait for the script to finish.
Return to your browser by "alt+Tab" or type "exit" twice.
