Default NBI 0.8.4RC1 + AppleIntelIntegratedFrameBuffer.kext - 05-04-2010, 10:34 AM

I'm using NetBookInstaller 0.8.4RC1 and Mac OS X 10.6.3. My Mini 9 works fine. On my Lenovo S10, when I put the machine to sleep, the backlight does not turn back on.

I saw a fix for this on meklort's blog posted by another user. It seems to work fine, but it uses an older version of the AppleIntelIntegratedFrameBuffer.kext (from 10.6.2) instead of the one from 10.6.3.

Is it bad to mix kext files from different OS versions? And why does the Mini 9 work with the newer version, but not the S10? I figured they were all the same chipsets anyway.

Are you sure you have 'USB Legacy Support' disabled in your BIOS? The no-wake-from-sleep issue is normally related to that as it needs to be disabled for wake to work.

Thanks for the reply.

The Lenovo S10 doesn't have a "Leagcy USB Suport" option. The problem, in more detail, is when the system is put to sleep, the LCD turns on, but not the backlight that illuminates the LCD. You can hear the sound changing and hard drive spinning. If you shine a light on the LCD, you can faintly see the graphics. The "fix" is to use AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext from 10.6.2.

Other netbooks that have this problem (from NetBookInstaller Google site):
- Asus EeePC 1000HEB
- Asus EeePC 1005HA
- Samsung N310
- Samsung NC10

From what I've read about most NetBooks, they share the same graphics and CPU. I'm trying to figure out why the Mini9/10V work with the new 10.6.3 (with NBI), while others don't.
