Hope your are still working with Win XP. Maybe you can also post a screenshot of the firmware because there is something different to mine... Zero ---------- Post added 06-06-2010 at 12:46 AM ---------- Previous post was 06-05-2010 at 11:57 PM ---------- Before doing this, can you do me a favore: 1.) Download putty.exe 2.) Connect to serial port COM4 with 112500 baud 3.) Execute command: AT*EVER (maybe 1st try give error, try again) 4.) Execute command: AT*EVERS (maybe 1st try give error, try again) 5.) Post the results here without IMEI and Serial Number Please wait with firmware update till i my response. Thanks. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello Robert, so please do the following: 1.) Install Win XP 2.) Install the driver for the WWAN card (it's necessary because firmware update use a dell wwan modem 2 to get the information from wwan card - you can use the driver of my thread) 3.) Try the first firmware mod. 4.) If the first mod is not working try this one now: http://www.mediafire.com/?0wcdkkjdmmz Hopefully firmware update will work. Please give me a feedback if it was working. Thank you. Greetings Zero |

![]() Hi Robert,
for XP you have to do the following: 1.) open device manager 2.) in the menu view check "show invisible devices" 3.) look under modem, there should be two modem now 4.) select the 2nd modem and look for com port 5.) open putty 6.) select seriel protocol use the com port from device manager and 115200 Try the commands I give you and post the results please. There are more identifications which we have to change. We will get the firmware at you card too ![]() Bye Zero ---------- Post added at 06:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:55 PM ---------- Hi together, another (good) BAD thing i found now is, the firmware could be running under Win 7. If you want to try, you have to do the following: 1.) get the COM port of modem 2.) open CMD with administrator rights 3.) navigate to the path where firmware is 4.) <filename of firmware> -t COM<number of modem COM port> 5.) firmware update will start Problem is that firmware is loading to device and then it is waiting for programming the device. But then it run into a timeout. But device is still working. Within Win XP it will reinstall the device. It looks like that is not working. But device should be updated fine. Hopefully. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Next try for firmware update: Link to firmware 3rd try Greetings Zero |

![]() Hi ,thanks for the help. I tried your 3rd mod but got error message again.
I've ran the original exe through IDA debugger and found the point it decides to update or not. I've patched it to do update after error. tried it on 2 cards and updated fine on both. here is link for my patched version. I think it will work on any firmware version as should now jump to update routine after any error. (needs XP and 5530 driver installed) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XGSURER2 http://www.filedude.com/download/k2bnu9vfao68582bf3f3 screenshots from IDA are inside rar , if you want to see jump point If anyone wants to try it, it will pop up with an error about illegal update package. just OK it and it will go to the update box. takes about 10..15 mins to complete. have fun |
