what computer do you have?
what OS X version, and where did it come from?
what OS X version is running on the mac you used to prep the USB?

aside from freezing, is there an error message?

Two points:

You have a copy of OS X Leopard. Not Snow Leopard. I think it will still install to the mini 10v, but you need a different version of NBI for it... 0.8.3, I think.

Unfortunately though, it seems you have a mini 10 (1010), not a 10v (1011), as the latest BIOS version listed on Dell website for the 10v is A06. You can verify this info by going to dell.com/support
Select the 'drivers and downloads' section, and enter your 'service tag(s/n)' from the label on back of your mini. That will list what mini you have and the downloads available for it. Somewhere on one of those labels it should also say 1010, or 1011-- mine are faded, so I couldn't figure it out by just looking.

You'll need to look for info on installing to the mini 10 (not 10v), if it turns out that's what you have. The process is different, and I don't have direct experience with that model. (or with OS X pre 10.6.0)

Hi everyone, I hope this is still an active thread. I installed 10.6.3 and it worked fine..

are these steps still valid for updating to 10.6.7?

follow these steps:
Steps:
1) Run the latest version of NBI ending in 51
2) Download and install the update
3) After you mini has rebooted, run NBI again
4) Reboot!

and do I need to do this prior to each update?

Yes, those steps will work. Steps 3 and 4 may be unnecessary, but don't hurt.
