Default Dell Studio Hybrid - 02-19-2010, 01:30 AM

First, thanks to the mods for creating this forum!

I pre-ordered one of these on Feb 4th, and I have an estimated date of 03/02 of getting it in (it's been delayed three times.) It's the 2.1Ghz with 2GB, 802.11n, etc. ($370 special).

I have a few questions - coming from a Mini 9, I know that Dell has options and such that you can add, etc.

1) I notice that there's a second mini PCI slot on the main board. I'm guessing that this was for the Broadcom Blu-Ray accelerator board. They don't offer this on the Win7 systems as an option. Is the connector on the board on the systems that are ordered without it, or is it blank like the WWAN connector was on the Mini 9?

2) Any way to get integrated Bluetooth on the Studio Hybrid?

3) Any other internal slots, etc, that aren't filled that I can use for another purpose (mini PCI, etc.)

4) Anyone hackintosh this yet?

I'm probably going to put this in the family room for the kids - it'll keep them off of my Macs.

I don't have any answers, but I just picked one up for $285 over the weekend. I hope mine doesn't get delayed like that.

I've seen indications that at some point, these were shipping with DVI/VGA y-cables. Did you get one? I'd ask in a different thread, but given the low volume of traffic, I thought why bother?

I have been using my Studio Hybrid for almost 18 months now. I'd say it's the best investment I had. I canceled my satellite TV subscription which cost me USD40 a month, have the Studio Hybrid placed next to my TV, plug in a WiFi dongle, and streaming movies and Hong Kong dramas. The ROI was merely 16 months. The best part is the Studio Hybrid design was so nice that none of my guests notice it's actually a PC.

I am very impressed with mine so far. I have it running on an old school CRT (via the included y-cable I asked about -- it does come with the system) at the moment because I am still stuck in the SDTV world. When that changes, mine will become a HTPC. I also clued my dad in on this sweet system and got him on board.
