Default Windows 7 Sleep Issue? Anyone fix it? - 01-12-2009, 05:41 PM

Everytime I close the lid or my laptop goes to sleep I have to restart it for it to work again. Its to a point where I have it to never go to sleep unless I close the lid. Anyone know how to fix this yet? Its Annoying..

I just reinstalled it and it fixed it for me. Strange, huh?

Have you tried disabling wake on USB in your BIOS?

Closing the lid for sleep works fine for me.

Mine still will not wake from sleep either. I've switch it over to use hibernate.
I've used the JMicron - JMB380_R1.00.12.07 I found in a forum for Vista. The Vista touchpad drivers from Synaptics and the Vista Battery Meter drivers from Dells site for the Dell Mini 12. I've let it do a Windows update which got a new version of the Realtek LAN. It runs very fast, and sleeps instantly, but will not wake. Sometimes I see the logon, but it's already locked up. I've had Wake USB disable since I got it. I've also updated to Bios A04. I've reloaded it 4 or 5 times with the same result (insanity). Although I've done my install from a USB HD I'm not sure what difference it would make to us a DVD.

There has to be one thing messing it up for it to work for some people and not for others. I wonder if I enable Hibernate if it would work.

I disabled those two things in the Bios and sleep works great now. Always make sure when you test it just dont close it and open it right away or it will freeze. Close it and give it 10 seconds then open it.

Also you can turn the processor speed down when the laptop is not plugged in. This is in advanced power settings. I want to see if anyone has tested this>

I may be guilty of not giving enough time. I'd close lid and wait for light to do it's slow pulsing. That may not have been a good 10 seconds. Thanks for info!

I agree, appears to be a time thing. If I let it sit it wakes fine. It even hibernated overnight. I guess just don't close it and open it quickly, give it at least 10 seconds.

The display was black for me on resume. I let it sit for quite a while and it still didn't resolve it. I didn't get a chance to update any drivers though (I used the same ones from the Mini 12 like I do in my Vista Ultimate installs, which work great) so we'll see. I am using BIOS A02.
