Default Windows 10 on a 1010v (1011) - 03-04-2016, 10:26 AM

Dell Mini 1010v (1011), Atom 270, 1 Gb memory, 60 Gb SSD...

Just upgraded to Windows 10!

From XP!

Running about 5% CPU, with a lot of things shut down, OneDrive, Desktop one color, all data collection off, and a 60 Gb SSD as a hard drive.

Went by Goodwill, picked up a broken Windows 7 laptop, a Dell 2120 to use the Windows 7 key on the back. $9.99... Stripped, but I found the wireless card was still inside.
Popped out my 1397, in goes the 1520...
Drivers are an issue. Use the Windows 7 64 bit drivers, do not install, just extract, then have Windows manually update the drivers, pointing it to /dell subfolder. May take a while....
Wireless speed goes from 54 to 300...

Download the Windows 10 iso, 32 bit, all languages, from Microsoft. Burn to a USB stick, making it bootable, (use the create bootable DVD/USB tool), then, if doing a clean install, boot from it. Upgrade, just click on "setup.exe", I believe. (Not sure, went the "clean install" route)

The following 1011 Windows 7 32 bit drivers I installed, because I did a clean install, Function Key, Display, Caps Lock, Wireless Switch, and 1520 Wireless card drivers from the 64 bit side...,

Up, activated, and running pretty good...
(Considering its a $199 Black Friday Special from 5-6 years ago....)

Is that the 1010 model with the HDMI port?

I am trying to figure out a good way to get an HDMI out port on my 1012.

Looks like a standard 15 pin, 3 row VGA port...

Default Nice! :D - 03-05-2016, 02:34 PM

EDIT: I finally fixed the picture sizes... and got the text to fit correctly.

I feel like Windows 10 probably runs better on the Mini than Windows 7, ironically, because it seems to function more efficiently.

I am running Remix OS Beta (32-bit Legacy) on my 1012. It uses android-x86, and can run almost any Android app that works in landscape
mode. I have a collection on my DLNA server of ROMs that I stream to the Android emulator apps on my Mini, like SNES, Sega Genesis, etc.
It is awesome! I'm still working with the android-x86 linux-based kernel, trying to get the Broadcom Crysyal HD drivers to work. Unfortunately, I have little to no experience building a customized kernel. Though, I do have everything I need to get it done; just not the
knowledge to do it.
