Question Hardware upgrades ??'s - 11-24-2011, 07:27 PM

Ok so i have been looking at grabbing another pair of dell mini 9 speakers, could i mount them at the top of the screen do you think by just chopping wires and connecting them back together??

WIFI - as the antenna's are at the top of the screen could the be attached to the attachment so a aerial could be screwed into the netbook somewhere? but still work without the aerial??

GPS - is there anyway of making the signal better?? aerial etc?

The speakers have their own connection to the mainboard - you should easily be able to splice in some extra wire.

You can buy stick-on WiFi antennae for about $5 apiece and stick them to whatever you want. The catch will be that the tiny coaxial cable attached is rather difficult to extend. But if you can get the right adapter to the tiny sockets on the WiFi board, you should be able to connect any kind of antenna you want. Keep in mind that it wants two.

GPS - this comes from the WWAN card installed, if any. You can look at your card to see if there is a socket for an external antenna.

That cable picture looks right, though I don't know if the small connector shown is really the right one. It could be.

yeah its the right one, found a pair of them last night on evilbay and asked the seller if its the right cable for what i want and he said yes, so ordered them,

so i presume i have to use both cables right? can they not be joined together so i only have to have 1 aerial do you think/no?

You need two - if you try connecting them together or use just one, your WiFi reception will be terrible or nonexistent.
