You could always use a different PC, or external DVD drive and find a patched SL DVD (Google is your friend) and use it for the specific purpose of booting into SL to create the legit installer.

hello i do not need the 10.6. i have it. i just cannot compile the netbootinstaller.. i need the image of the nbi/nbm (the 'pre' version or the only version that works with our mini). yea. thanks again for checking this thread.

I'm not sure how to get you just the NBBM image, if you know how and want to give me a walkthrough I will do what I can to help you out.

hello, thanks again mate.

I *think you have to run 8.4pre to create the boot usb stick. When it is done, my guesses are, try going to disk utility and then create either a disk image OR bootable duplicate.

QuestionMark425 - Thank you for your superb step-by-step guidance - I'd failed to notice formatting type and I was not formatting as GUID.

Was happily greeted with OS X set-up screen - I ran out of time to install due to other commitments but plan to attempt full install later today.

OS X update to 10.6.3 worked per pg 18 -

sound is working.

BUT WiFi is a no go - anyone know what I need to tweak?

Do you have Dell 365 bluetooth? I have that and it is working by default.

Would you share some of your setup info?
- Are you able to connect to external monitor? Anything you add for video?
- Are you able to sleep/wake (or hiberate/wake)? Anything you add for sleep to work?

I downloaded SL-NTFS and for some reason I can't enable writing to my external drive. If I check the "Write Permissions" checkbox, it will check it, go grey, and then uncheck itself then not allowing me to write to my external. Anyone else having this same issue?

My setup is straight off pg 18 of the site with an assist from questionmark425

I didn't attempt dual boot system as I have a Windoze laptop if needed & I am not Win OS often or long enough to warrant dual system. I dearly want a mini Mac netbook thus the reason for purchase of Dell 1012 last week.

- Haven't attempted external video connect - will attempt and report back
- sleep/wake not working - seems to lock system up forcing hard restart
- Bluetooth isn't showing - so guessing it's not Dell 365 BT
- Tried a few WiFi solutions mentioned on this site but still no response?

Besides Apple standard pgms I am running: MS Office Mac 2004, OmniOutliner 3, Accordance Bible pgm, haven't tried any video pgms yet. current BIOS is listed as A07.

Anyone have Wifi suggestions?

OK, I have DELL 1510 wifi card and DELL 365 BT. Both work.

If you have these cards, try it.

I would like to know if your video for external monitor work. By the way, I have 1388x768 screen (HD), what screen you have?

I was hoping to have the 1012 to replace the 10v with the HD screen as the main reason for more workspace. But it is just not working as well as the 10v (which is just perfect as this point).

andykwg - I don't know my BT card - it did not show automatically with update to 10.6.3 - did you do anything special - kexts or such?

My 1012 came with a wireless "N" WiFi card capability - from what I've read means I most likely have an Atheros 9285 card which, if I so - no one has gotten it to work with Snow Leopard thus far (I could be wrong)

I ordered a USB wifi dongle because WiFi ability is only real hang up from being perfect for what I do.

I've read that video playback issues are most likely tied to the GPU Dell chose - so there may not be a work around.

I am going to keep researching the web for answers . . .
