Default possible to upgrade the CPU to i5, or jsut a faster dual core?? - 03-12-2010, 03:34 AM

would it be possible to upgrade the CPU to an i5, or somthing like a 2-3ghz dual core?

I know it will suck a little more juice, but I think the trade off would be worth it...

I think the fastest CPU that could potentially work in an 11z is the Core 2 Duo SU9600 at 1.6GHz. But I also believe the CPU is soldered in, so upgrading would be near impossible.

pretty much anything "Core Solo/Duo/Quad" Series is incompatible with anything "i3/5/7" Series

I'd probably call Shenanigans on the not soldered part

It has been confirmed. the cpu is soldered in so it is not possible to upgrade yourself. Someone dismantled their M11x and took pics. Look in the Alienware section of Notebookreview,

Dell reps that tell you otherwise do not no anything.

Really? Your kidding.....really?!
Who would expect any real info from Dell online chat, let alone sales......
Seems they barely know the current products let alone future configurations.
