Default 3-5 min delay before starts - 05-29-2011, 10:49 AM

So I haven't used my Mini 9 in a while, and I went to go turn it on today. Plugged it in since I wasn't sure the battery had a charge. When I pressed the power button, the white power light turns on but nothing else happens, so I thought it was dead. Tried cycling it on/off a few times and nothing happened. On the last attempt, I just left it on for a while and about 5 minutes later, it turned on and runs ubuntu fine off of 16gb ssd. Tried this with my 32gb ssd running os x and same thing happens, although it takes about 3 min. Anyone know why this is happening?

What happens if you remove the battery and do this?

does the same thing with the battery in or out. it also doesn't flash any other screen or make any noises until the ubuntu or osx start screens. screen remains dark until then.

just for reference, it used to turn off/on in a matter of seconds on both ubuntu and osx.

So you don't get the Dell BIOS screen?

i didn't notice it before but it does get to the bios screen and i can enter the bios. i put in the natty linux distro yesterday after it booted up. doesn't seem to have any problems once it starts. it just takes about 5 min on avg (timed it a few times) before the dell screen pops up and then it starts. if i restart it, it starts up again in no time as well. it's only when going from a cold start does it seem to have issues.
