Default New GMA 500 Video Driver (7.14.10.1095 Vista/Win 7) - 05-31-2009, 09:41 PM

I just manually installed this driver on my Mini 10 w/ Windows 7 RC (32 bit) without an issue so far. Might be the answer to some of the video issues in Windows 7. Updated XP drivers are also on the same site.

Here is the quote from Intel GMA - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"GMA 500
As of May 2009, available driver revisions are: 7.14.10.1095 Windows Vista / Windows Seven RC. These are the first to allow Full HD video hardware decompression. 6.14.10.1096 Windows XP"

Here is the download link (VGA Drivers for X320): MSI -- MICRO-STAR INT'L CO., LTD.

Can someone confirm that this driver actually makes things better. My biggest issue with GMA500 is the lackluster graphics performance.

here's the forum where the info was founded.

"found this on the web. Managed to install by choosing the LCPO folder OK.

Can now play 720 HD in media center smoothly, though issues in media player. (Dont know why) Driver details show to be 1095, rather than the old 1071."

"its just because aero was on. Without in, it works in both media center and media player.

Can also play UT2004 now, on medium settings with no lag. Having a problems with any openGL games though."
It's some proof of improve, reliability or not.

here's what I can say, still can't run starcraft, and warcraft runs but lags like hell.

Mini 10V | 1.6GHz | 2GB | 16GB SSD | GMA 950 | OSX | ~$180ish | Wireless-N | 6-Cell |
M1340 | 2.4GHz x2 | 4GB | 320GB 7.2K-RPM | Nvidia SLi 9400M + 9200GS | 7-RTM | $500.00 | WEI: 5.3 |

Default New Driver for GMA 500 - 06-09-2009, 01:23 AM

I installed the new driver in Mini 10 with Vista basic, Don't really see any difference in video, still choppy, tried a few videos from MSN and Hulu still crappy. Guess the only thing to do is opt for a 10V.

I downloaded the driver revisions 7.14.10.1095, it seemed to help a little with MP4's on i-tunes but when I tried to stream an episode on Hulu it was still choppy and had to turn the quality down to 'low' so the biffer could take it. I hope Dell recognize that there is a need for a netbook that is designed for multimedia use, to work with multimedia!!!!!!

In Vista have you checked the power options that your Mini is currently using? I'm dual booting Xp and Windows 7 and I noticed that Win7 sets the performance plan to balanced by default even when plugged in to external power. I'm wondering if that could also be the case in Vista and that is hurting the video performance.
