Sometimes it's more difficult than it should be to get rid of Windows Messenger, however this should work. Open Start-Run then type in,

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

That usually does the trick.
