first attempt advice please -

Hi this is my first attempt at putting osx on a pc. I have a dell mini 1011 and also have a macbook air which came with snow leopard. Obviously I have upgraded to lion, mountain lion and now mavericks. I am not particularly advanced in technology but am not stupid, and can follow instructions. Please could you tell me which guide would be best to follow, given the above, please? Thank you.

There are various guides in Mac OS X Guides - you will need a Snow Leopard retail installation DVD, not one that may have come with your Macbook.
