I dualboot between Mac OS X and Ubuntu. I kicked Windows off my mini10v minutes after receiving it from the UPS guy.

I would triple boot it between Mac OS X, Ubuntu and Jolicloud, but Jolicloud has problems working with Mac OS X on the first partition.

Since there's no option for Mac/Linux and nothing else. Then I selected Mac OS X.

I dual booted windows (xp and 7 starter for a time with Linux Mint 9, on a 1012. I've since gotten rid of Windows altogether and Now I'm runing Linux Mint 9 with multiple desktop sessions (not an alternate OS boot). I'm running Linux Mint 9 Gnome as the main session, with Sessions for Qimo for Kids, Xubuntu, plain XFCE and linux Mint XFCE.

I find that I simply don't use the laternate sessions anywhere near as much as I use the main gnome session, so after I'm done with my hardware upgrades, I plan on reinstalling LM9 gnome as a sole OS and simply uploading the packages from the others that I wanted and were not originally installed in LM9G.

With few hardware upgrades done, this OS has transformed the 1012 from a semi usable web appliance, to a full featured, peppy, affordable and truly portable computer.

You might want to pass the following to dell. If they choose to offer a linux option in the future:

1. Pick an easy one
2. leave out the corporate bloatware
3. beyond a dell desktop background, don't mess with the OS
4. Include the OS's and the desktop environment's userguides
5. Include a guide to all the software installed.
6. Open a discussion forum for those who buy the linux version.

I dual boot XP home and ubuntu 10.04 netbook edition (lucid lynx) on a 1012. The only issue I have with it is the wireless atheros card works maybe 1 out of 20 boot ups in XP, but works everytime in ubuntu. I would have just gotten rid of windows entirely, however, since I bought it for my daughter, and she much prefers XP (games I suppose) she will have to put up with wireless on occasion. At least the ethernet card works ok.

I also dual boot 7 and 10.04 on my 1545 and everything works fine on it.

edit: forgot to mention, I use ubuntu exclusively on my 1545, except when I need to use one particular program in windows that I haven't YET found a viable alternative in linux. When that does inevitably happen, buh-bye windows.
