Default a summary of internal mods on mini 9 - 11-18-2009, 05:57 PM

hi guys,

I went through and read the 50 plus pages in this forum, to find as many details as possible on internal mods to the mini 9. the following list has links to the posts. I did not catalog any of the internal ssd changes, as I didn't plan to change my 16 gb ssd.

this should make it easier to find stuff on mods for future hackers. let me know if I missed any posts.

thanks rock99,

I added your "under the MOB" location, too. I wondered about using that spot, but the battery seemed to be in the way. you just moved it down a bit, right?

that might be a good place to sneak a naked flash drive, if you were able to fit the TS/controller board in there.

looks like you had the thing dangling and apart as I did.... thought i would never get all those wires back in the case

It was a long night, to be sure The battery was displaced from its original position, and moved towards the battery connector. The original adhesive for the battery stayed intact for the move. After doing it once, I'd feel confident enough to do it in half the time if not less than half as the original. But we only expect to do this once, right?

say rock99... you know how it is with mods... i could be back in the case again when I find something else to put in there. I must have opened my eeePC 6 times before I was done. I did get pretty good at it, though

For what it is worth..

Here is a way to modify the BT MOBO connector to carry both +3V and +5V. It is a permanent mod to MOBO but the BT connector will be backward compatible and very flexible for future solderless +3V and +5V upgrades.

Exclamation Links in #1 (maybe elsewhere): "Page not found" - 07-19-2020, 07:29 PM

Why is that?

There were some great things to show the kids of today. And maybe in a few years folks want to redo stuff with their grandkids. The Minis are fine machines for that because they are so accessible and not too miniaturized. And nice for little fingers.

If the the Forum wants to save on disk space, please enable all pages temporarily, enter the site in the Internet Archive (aka Wayback Machine) and wait until it has harvested all pages, THEN you may take the good stuff offline.

Please.
