Yes, you need a USB floppy drive. Instructions are in the BIOS USB key sticky thread above.

I never thought I'd use floppy disk again.
I think I could use USB Floppy Drive Key.
Will it work?

I don't know what you mean by "Floppy Drive key". If you are referring to a USB flash memory key, that won't work. Has to be a floppy drive. They're about $40. (Plus you'll need a floppy.)

It's not a flash memory but usb-floppy.

Hallelujah!!!

My dell mini 9 has been born again!

Selfic Boot(usb-fdd/usb-hdd) works flawlessly!
you don't need a floppy diskette.
you don't need the dell support service.

Thanks, steve!
Thank you for all!

P.S. Why don't Dell fix this problem?
I'm not the only one but thousand maybe.

That's interesting - a USB flash drive that pretends it's a USB floppy. But you'd still need to buy that particular device, right?

I'm amazed.... My face is . Wow! I didn't know those existed.

...so I searched around for it & didn't find much of any thing. Hhhmm, I wonder why these keys don't seem to be readily available much any more (in the US, if they ever were at all)....

The best I could do was:
Amazon.com: 1GB USB 2.0 Floppy Drive Key: Electronics

Somehow, the price seems to be a bit ridiculous.

Edit: Oh okay, Steve. I know what you mean about the USB floppies! (I got 2 for about $22 the other day. )

You can buy them from a Korean seller who will ship internationally. It does seem like a specialized item, though. Price with shipping to the US is about $28. For under $40, I can buy a USB floppy drive at Staples. Haven't found anyone outside Korea selling this.
